Last night at the annual dinner dance a 15 year wait ended as Usher Irish Road Club's top rider of the season SHANE BAKER got his just reward and was awarded "Sports Person of the Year 2005".Shane's season started in January with a win in the Gorky Park cyclocross(the first race of the year).In March come the road racing season he was winning again and he continued with a string of great results on the road right up untill the end of the road season with a fine win in Kilmessen on the last weekend of the domestic season.But it dosen't end there as most cyclists are taking it easy in the off season Shane is now back cyclocrossing and has had 2 top 3 placings in the 2 events he has taken part in. With the Leinster Cyclocross Championships on the 4th of December in Kilcullen a good result here would be a fitting end to an amazing season.
