Interclub Xmas Race 2011 Batterstown

Interclub Xmas Race 2011 Batterstown

Up to 12 Usher IRC riders took part in the 2011 Interclub League Xmas Race at Batterstown. As the riders started off for two laps of the Mullagh circuit the heavens opened and never really eased for the rest of the race.

The main development of the race was when a Staggs Lucan rider, Padraig Doherty rode from Semi Scratch over to the Semi Limit/Limit group. Hejoined them just after the turn for Culmullin on lap 2 with new Usher IRC member Randal Burke able to stay with him. At the finish it was still the two leaders who came home practically together with Randal getting second. A great result for Randal who is still getting the feel for Road Racing.

The chasing bunch was led home by Bertie Reynolds with out own Jason Stack getting 4th and new club member Darren Maher netting sixth. So a strong showing by the new faces already in December. It will be interesting to see how this develops going into the 2012 season as the lads get to kow each other better. Early indications would show the change in club training regime meeting in Newcastle every Sunday at 10am seems to be benefitting everyone involved so long may it last.
